Sen. John A. Kissel, R-Enfield, (at microphone) on Feb. 25 testified before the legislature’s Transportation Committee in opposition to a proposal to put tolls at Connecticut’s borders. Sen. Kissel noted that border tolls would discriminate against north-central Connecticut residents who live near a state line, especially those who commute or travel out of state on a daily or regular basis. Sen. Kissel also urged the panel to consider the negative effect tolls would have on local roadways such as Route 5. Sen. Kissel thanked the many north-central Connecticut residents who joined him in testifying against the bill, which now awaits a vote in the Transportation Committee.
